Le Bus Takes U.S. Ambassador on Anniversary City Tour

American company Transnational Industries Cameroon (TIC), a subsidiary of Transnational Automotive Group Cameroon (TAuG-C), invited U.S. Ambassador Janet Garvey, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Transportation Oumarou Mefiro, Government Delegate Gilbert Tsimi Evouna, TAuG-C executives, U.S. Embassy officials and the media on a tour of the city of Yaounde to celebrate its one-year anniversary in providing urban transport to the city. Le Bus, the city’s first transport system in twenty years, was launched September 25, 2006. The celebratory tour enabled Ambassador Garvey to experience first-hand the benefits that come from attracting foreign investment.

Le Bus has created skilled jobs and improved the quality of life for Cameroonians by providing clean, safe, and economical transport for the citizens of Yaounde. In just one year, the company has shown the benefits that can come from attracting foreign investment. The Ambassador’s well-accompanied tour of the commercial city center underscored the commitment of the United Stated to working with the Government of Cameroon as well as with Cameroonian and American businesses to encourage new trade and investment between our two countries. At present, the United States is the single largest investor in Cameroon. (photo gallery)
