Ambassador Garvey Tours North West Province
Ambassador Garvey met with government officials, NGOs, secondary school students and teachers, Peace Corp Volunteers, journalists, and religious and traditional rulers on a five-day visit to the North West Province May 11-15, which included stops in Bamenda, Bambui, Bali, and Guzang. For many Cameroonians in the remote villages on the itinerary, this was their first opportunity to meet an American, much less an American Ambassador. For Ambassador Garvey, the trip provided the opportunity to further experience the ethnic, political, cultural, and linguistic diversity of Cameroon and better understand the country.
