Black History Month: DCM Rick Nelson presents a PowerPoint on the legacy of Thurgood Marshall at the American Corner of Bertoua
On Wednesday February 21st, 2007, PAS organized a conference on the legacy of Thurgood Marshall to celebrate Black History Month at the American Corner of Bertoua. The DCM Rick Nelson did an interactive and colorful PowerPoint presentation on Thurgood Marshall’s legacy in French. The program, entirely in French, was coordinated by the CAO Noelle Wright-Young, and also included a quiz and a video projection on Black History. The event was attended by more than 60 participants including lawyers, human rights activists and students clubs, teachers and journalists. Many participants won prizes including mouse pads, IIP publications, USA maps and posters on Black history. The event was followed by a TV interview of the DCM and CAO on the importance of the American Corner and Black history month. The interview was conducted by the National television station CRTV and local radio station.
All the participants expressed their gratitude to be privileged to receive high rank embassy officials, who gave them in their language French, an insight of a very important and not always well perceived aspect of American culture.
