Immigrant Visas

Diversity Immigrant Visas

Since October 1, 1994, 50,000 permanent resident visas have been made available annually to natives of foreign states which the US Attorney General has determined to have had a low ratio of immigrants admitted under the other sections of the immigration law. Such immigrants are identified by random selection each year by the Secretary of State from among persons who submit electronic applications during a specified period. Applicants for diversity immigrant status must meet strict eligibility requirements and have a high school education or two (2) years of recent work experience in a skilled job.  A list of eligible occupations is listed online at http://www.travel.state.gov.

For more information about program requirements please see DV Lottery Instructions.  Please be sure to review all of the application requirements, as invalid or incorrect information may cause an applicant to be disqualified after selection.
