Non-immigrant visas
Expedited Appointments
In order to facilitate emergency travel for certain business travelers, students and people requiring specialized medical attention, the consular section has adopted a policy for expedited appointments. Applicants must first try to schedule an appointment through the regular appointment process before requesting an expedited appointment. Applicants are also advised to regularly check back online to see if new appointments slots have been made available as the schedule is constantly updated.
Requests to expedite visa appointments need to be made via e-mail to YaoundeNIV@state.gov and should begin with a subject line that reads:
“Request for Expedited Visa Appointment”
I – Requirements to Be Considered For an Expedited Appointment:
Have an urgent need for travel that is in one of three groups:
1. Business travel of significant interest to a US business
2. Students commencing regular semester who have not been previously interviewed
3. Emergency/humanitarian cases
II – Please respond to all questions. Failure to respond to questions properly will result either in a refusal of your request or a delay in responding to your request. Details to Include in the Email
1. Name and DOB of applicant
2. Nationality
3. Have you ever been refused a U.S. Visa? (Yes/No):
4. If previously refused, provide date and place of last refusal
5. Steps taken to make sufficient advance preparation – and why they were not successful
6. Purpose of Trip
7. Explain the nature of the emergency and why travel cannot be deferred
8. Date currently scheduled for interview
9. Date of requested interview
Notes
1- Keep in mind that an expedited interview appointment does not affect an applicant's chances of obtaining a U.S. visa. An expedited case simply results in an earlier appointment date for the visa interview. A humanitarian emergency is not grounds for the issuance of a U.S. visa; applicants applying for a non-immigrant visa must still prove they meet the requirements of the visa class in question.
2- Requests will not be considered if the applicant has not already scheduled an interview using the normal procedure.
3- Submit only one request per trip and per person. Submitting multiple requests for the same trip or individuals will only delay our response time.
