Visa Renewal Guidelines for Frequent Travelers to the United States and Returning Students

Certain non-immigrant visa (NIV) applicants can request a renewal of their visa without personal interview.  Applicants requesting this courtesy should:

  1. Have entered the U.S. using a multiple entry visa issued by Embassy Yaounde which expired within the past twelve months.  (This refers to the “expiration date” listed on your non-immigrant visa).
  2. Be seeking to renew the same category of visa.
  3. Not have overstayed in the United States or have any other visa ineligibility.
  4. Use the electronic visa application form (EVAF) available at http://evisaforms.state.gov

RENEWALS ON MONDAYS BETWEEN 12.00 AND 13.30

NIV applicants who wish to use the renewal system can come to the Consular section without an appointment any working Monday at 12.30.  (Please refer to schedule of Cameroonian and American holidays to verify the Embassy will be open.  If a Cameroonian or American holiday falls on a Monday, renewal applicants are requested to appear Tuesday at 12.30).  Applicants must pass through the security screening and go to the indoor waiting room.

INSIDE THE WAITING ROOM

Applicants must begin at window #2, and then pay $131 or the equivalent in CFA at the cashier window (window 1).  At this time, applicants should submit their passports, application forms and payment.  Applicants should also indicate the category and duration of the visa they are seeking. Applicants will then be interviewed by a consular officer.

PICK-UP

After finger-scanning, applicants whose visas are renewed are requested to pay any issuance fee (which varies depending on applicant’s nationality, the category and duration of visa) and return to the consular section at 16.00 on Wednesday to collect their visas.  Applicants may write a letter authorizing a third-party to collect their passport and visa.  Such individuals should have their national identity card and any receipts relating to the visa application in question.
