“William J. Clinton Foundation’s First International Congress for Sustainable Development and Financing the Development in Africa”

Yaounde April 29, 2008

The William J. Clinton Foundation has notified the U.S. Embassy Yaounde of an email scam involving them.  The email scam announces that the William J. Clinton Foundation and the US Government will host their First International Congress for Sustainable Development and Financing the Development in Africa.  The notice asks for a registration fee of $230.  For this fee, your organization would be registered to participate in a “First International Congress of the Nongovernmental Organizations.”

The U.S. Embassy and the William J. Clinton Foundation would like to advise the public that the alleged congress email is a fraudulent scheme.  There is no planned Congress of this name. The public should ignore any request to submit a fee to an unknown account.  The U.S. Embassy and the William J. Clinton Foundation encourage the public to be alert to such fraudulent requests for financial assistance.

For additional information, please contact the Information Section of the U.S. Embassy, Yaounde, Tel 22-20-15-00, x4162 or x4273.
