The U.S. Embassy Branch Office (EBO) in Douala will hold a grand opening ceremony on August 30, 2007, from 16:30 to 19:00, at its new location in the Bonanjo neighborhood of Douala, to officially inaugurate the space and to inform municipal authorities, American citizens, EBO contacts, the greater Douala-based business community, and the media of the services it offers. The ceremony will be presided over by U.S. Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Richard W. Nelson and EBO Director Robert Heater.

In addition to official travel assistance, EBO provides a full range of American Citizen Services, such as passport issuance and renewals; notarial services, including true copy and attestation services; officiation of government forms; and emergency American Citizen Services. EBO operates as the logistics center for receipt of diplomatic cargo for the American embassies in Bangui, Ndjamena and Yaoundé.

EBO supports the local American Chamber of Commerce, the American School of Douala as well as the Overseas Security Advisory Committee by offering meeting space and logistics support for these entities and for other related activities. EBO was instrumental in providing support for the recent Central African AGOA conference in Douala.
