Holiday Cultural Exchange at the Bertoua American Corner

PAS Yaounde sponsored a cultural exchange program at the American Corner Bertoua in the East Province of Cameroon.  American Corner Bertoua invited 100 students 7 – 9 years of age to participate in the exchange on December holiday traditions in the U.S. and Cameroon.  The discussion was followed by the film, “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” and lunch.

Students shared anecdotes and asked thoughtful questions about American holiday traditions.  This programming marked the first joint program with Bertoua in a year and helped build community involvement and participation in the American Corner.  It also supported our MPP goal of mutual understanding and reaching out to the youth of Cameroon.  The program reached a wider audience through print and radio coverage.
