Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Announcement
The Public Affairs Section of the United States Embassy in Yaoundé is pleased to announce the annual competition for the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program for the academic year 2013-2014. This one year full scholarship program is offered to mid-career professionals who have a proven track record of leadership, a public service commitment, and the capacity to take full advantage of a self-defined program of independent study at a leading U.S. university. Applicants should be aware, that this is not a degree program. Completed applications in English with an undergraduate degree attached (NO transcripts or references) should be sent electronically, no later than March 18, 2012, to ExchangesYaounde@state.gov
Fellowships are available in the following fields: agricultural development or agricultural economics, communications/journalism, drug abuse and education, economic development, education, finance and banking, higher education administration, HIV/AIDS policy and prevention, human resource management law, human rights, natural resources and environmental management, nonproliferation, public health policy and management, public policy analysis and public administration, teaching English as a foreign language, trafficking in persons, and urban and regional planning.
To be eligible for the Humphrey Program, applicants must have:
- An undergraduate degree or its equivalent.
- Five years of substantial professional experience
- Demonstrated leadership qualities and a record of public service
- Limited prior experience in the U.S.
- Fluency in English. The Embassy will also consider highly qualified candidates with moderate English skills. (Such candidates would be required to take 4-9 months of extensive English training before the commencement of their fellowship, if selected.)
