Dickinson Students Visit Embassy
Nine students and a coordinator from the Dickinson in Cameroon exchange program visited the U.S. Embassy May 6 to learn more about the role of the United States in Cameroon. A partnership between the University of Yaounde I and Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, the Dickinson in Cameroon program enables students to develop an understanding of Africa as a whole and of Cameroonian culture and society in particular while attending classes organized at the University of Yaounde I and the Catholic University of Central Africa in Yaounde. In their discussion with Information Officer Matt Miller and Educational Advisor Fatimah Mateen, the students learned more about the mission of the Embassy of the United States in Cameroon and the role and activities of Foreign Service Officers. In return, the students shared their experiences in Cameroon during the program and highlighted the mutual benefit of cross-cultural exchanges.
