Announcement

The Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy is pleased to announce the competition to select highly qualified candidates for Study of the United States Institutes (SUSI) scheduled for summer 2012. 

The SUSI program is a 6 week intensive post-graduate level academic program scheduled from June to August, 2012 with integrated study tours; whose purpose is to provide secondary educators and foreign university lecturers the opportunity to deepen their understanding of American society, culture and institutions.  The program will provide funding for round trip airfare to the United States, a living allowance, and health insurance. 

Interested candidates should be secondary educators or university lectures typically between the ages of 30-50 with strong English level abilities.

Secondary school educators should be classroom teachers, teacher trainers, curriculum developers, textbook writers or a ministry of education official interested in deepening understanding of U.S. society, education, and culture.

University lecturers should have an interest and experience in studying in one of the following themes:   American Politics and Political Thought; Contemporary American Literature; Journalism and Media; Religious Pluralism in the U.S.; U.S. Culture and Society; and U.S. Foreign Policy.  

Candidates are requested to provide in English a curriculum vitae with contact information (email addresses and phone numbers) and a one page personal statement describing interest and what they expect to obtain from the program electronically to the Cultural Affairs Assistant, at ExchangesYaounde@state.gov, no later than November 13, 2011.  Late information will not be considered.
