Press Release
Online Visa Appointment System now in Effect for all U.S. Non-Immigrant Visa Appointments
Yaounde, July 2, 2007
Visa Services – Public Announcement
The U.S. Embassy informs the public that, effective June 27, 2007, the Consular Section no longer accepts non-immigrant visa appointment requests via e-mail or phone. All requests for non-immigrant visa appointments will be directed to the website.
All visa applicants must be sure to have the electronic application form completed and printed before scheduling a non-immigrant visa appointment. The barcode located on the electronic visa application form is also required in order to request this type of visa appointment to the United States through the Consular Section of the U.S. Embassy. No fee is associated with this process, and applicants are urged to complete this process themselves, and to avoid “assistance” from third parties, which often undermines legitimate applications.
Scheduling Interviews
The Embassy strongly encourages all visa applicants, especially students, to schedule interviews as far in advance as possible. Currently, the consular section is booking interviews six weeks in advance and travelers need to plan accordingly.
Scheduling Diversity Lottery Interviews
The Embassy reminds winners of the Diversity Visa Lottery, who have not yet been interviewed, that they urgently need to contact the Consular Section to complete that process before the September 30th deadline.
